In the heart of Grubišno Polje, in the village of Grbavac, there is Bilogora ethnic house, a real eco-ethnic pearl that represents the community of Hungarians. This traditional house is equipped for gatherings of up to 150 people. In the ethno house, there is a collection of old tools and aids that have been used for centuries in the countryside, so visitors can take a peek into authentic rooms such as the bedroom, kitchen, entrance to the attic, blacksmith’s workshop.

The main purpose of this ethnic collection is to preserve and display customs that have been passed down from generation to generation, enabling everyone to experience the spirit of the times 150 years ago. During the year, the courtyard of the ethnic house becomes the center of various events, from the village pig slaughter and feather plucking to lifting majpan and the Olympic Games of ancient sports. These activities revive tradition and encourage togetherness, whereas the customs of Easter and Christmas are celebrated in a unique style, by nurturing old customs.

In the ethnic house, you can also find a rich collection of folk costumes and handicrafts over a hundred years old, which tell stories about the life of former generations. In the newer part of the space, regular rehearsals and performances of children’s dance groups, as well as adult dance and singing groups and tambura players are held, so the tradition continues.
