Sports ponds in Bjelovar-Bilogora County represent an important part of the region’s natural wealth, offering fishing enthusiasts ideal conditions for recreation. These ponds, along with rivers and lakes, include significant pond areas such as Poljana, Končanica, Garešnica, Siščani, Narta and Blatnica ponds. In addition to carp, grass carp, catfish and trout, the ponds are a habitat for other fish species, supporting the diversity of the fishing offer.
Several sport angling associations in the territory of our county actively promote sport angling culture, organizing educations and competitions that encourage sustainable fishing practices. These associations play a key role in preserving the fish stock and ecological balance through cooperation with local communities. Sports ponds thus not only offer opportunities for fishing, but also contribute to the development of tourism and environmental awareness in the region.
