In the heart of Croatia, the town of Daruvar, known for its thermal springs, hides in the safe bosom of the green slopes of Papuk. Beeches and oaks emerge from the ground, and their crowns join parks and rows of trees, reaching for the sky from where they draw sunlight and strength.
The deciduous and coniferous forests of western Papuk are still preserved and lush, and are attractive in all seasons. Perhaps they are most beautiful in the spring when everything is green and the morning light spills over the leaves, already smelling of summer, but not the exhausting summer full of steam and heat, but summer full of shady shelters of thick green velvet, fairy-like shady paths, babbling brooks and paradise-like shade only forests can generously offer. Or in winter, when part of the forest remains green, but also retains the golden autumn scarves along its edges, and the clean air generously expands your lungs all the way to the diaphragm when you move through our hiking areas. Try it and see for yourself! Breathing and simply existing is the motto of western Papuk.
One of the most intriguing peaks in this area is Petrov vrh, which rises to 614 meters. This peak, covered by a forest with a meadow on the northern side, is home to the eponymous Petrov vrh mountain lodge, located at 547 meters. In front of the house there is an area with wooden tables, benches and barbecues, ideal for enjoying nature throughout the year. Is there anything better than celebrating the joy of Sunday with your company while your pupils are filled with the beauty of the landscape?
