The Parish of St. Anthony of Padua – Daruvar was founded by the decree of Msgr. Dr. Antun Škvorčević, bishop of Požega, no. 1011/2003 of 31 May 2003, on the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which entered into force on 29 June 2003. Since the church of the Holy Trinity built in the 18th century was too small to receive the growing number of worshipers from the area of the city of Daruvar and its surroundings in recent times, this made the pastoral work of the parish difficult and “encouraged the search for more suitable solutions for better proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus, and providing spiritual help to the worshipers. Therefore, in accordance with canon 515 § 2 of the Code of Canon Law, after hearing the Presbyterian Council of the Diocese of Požega, the southeastern part of the parish of the Holy Trinity in Daruvar is hereby separated, establishing a new parish of St. Anthony of Padua.” “The new parish in Daruvar has the same borders on the east side as the parish of the Holy Trinity with the parish of Sirač, on the south side with the parish of Badljevina, and on the west and north the border with the parish of the Holy Trinity is formed by the Toplica River.”
“The heavenly patron of the new parish is Anthony of Padua, a faithful listener and doer of God’s word, preacher and teacher, advocate and helper in times of trouble. Patron Saint’s Day on 13 June will be liturgically celebrated in the parish as a holiday.”
