Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina

The Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina, located in Podgarić, is one of the most important works of art of the former state. The monumental work of sculptor Dušan Džamonja, 10 meters high and 20 meters wide, was completed in 1967 and inaugurated in attendance of the President of the SFRY, Josip Broz Tito. This monument symbolizes the victory of life over death through abstract, strong concrete forms designed by Džamonja as dynamic sculptural masses.

The monument, with its stylized wings of freedom, symbolizes the struggle of the people of Moslavina during the Peoples Liberation War, and in its immediate vicinity there is also an ossuary with the remains of about 1,000 fallen partisans.

The work is not only a historical monument, but also an artistic inspiration. Belgian photographer Jan Kempenaers immortalized it with photos shown at exhibitions around the world, and DJ Alan Walker used it as a backdrop for his video clip Darkside. The art collective Secret Mapping Experiment included it in their video mapping project, further confirming its importance on the global art scene.

Moslavačka gora, known for its partisan base and hospital from the Second World War, is the ideal landscape for this monumental sculpture, making the entire locality a place of unique artistic expression.
