Ivanovo Selo Ethno house

Etno kuca Ivanovo Selo 002

The Ethno house is managed by the Česká beseda Ivanovo Selo. Every year, they proudly open this precious ethno-chest through the traditional Etno den, offering visitors the opportunity to step into the world of past times and get to know an authentic collection of objects that tell the stories of old Czech homes.

This house, known by the Czech name Staveni, was built at the end of the 19th century. Built of wood, with walls covered with earth and painted white, it is a true example of typical construction from that century. The interior of the house is divided into several parts: ganjek (hall), seknjic (front room), kychune (kitchen) and komora (small chamber), and the authentic earthen floor has been preserved in all rooms, which makes it a special experience.

Every corner of the house tells its own story. In the living area you can see old pieces of furniture and handmade textiles, while the kitchen keeps a collection of antique kitchen furniture, tableware and accessories. In the yard there is a bread oven, barns, a cornfield, a grain storehouse and a chicken coop, along with displayed tools and objects that were once used in agriculture, animal husbandry, milk processing and woodworking.

Etno den is a true celebration of Czech tradition. Visitors can look around the interior of the ethnic house for free, stroll through the Old Bohemian Fair and enjoy the rich cultural and artistic program in which folklore ensembles from Croatia and the Czech Republic participate. Ethno house then proudly opens its doors by honoring the old customs and way of life of the Czech community.
