The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Garešnica, located in Bjelovar-Bilogora County, is a Roman Catholic parish church with a rich history. The Parish of St. Mary is mentioned as early as 1334, while the current church was built between 1750 and 1753. According to legend, material from the ruined city of Dijanovac (Dejanovac), which stood by the Ilova River, was used for its construction.
The church stands out for its simple but impressive architecture – a single-nave building with a square sanctuary ending in a semicircular apse, while the sacristy is located on the south side. The dominant bell tower rises in front of the main, western facade. Inside the church, the original inventory from the second half of the 18th century has been partially preserved, and the style of the church has a recognizable baroque stamp.
After the decoration of the interior in 2017, the tower and cross were renovated in 2021. The church was already recognized as a cultural monument in 1962, and in 1964 it was placed under the protection of the Conservation Institute. Today, it is registered as an immovable cultural asset under the designation Z-2308, which confirms its value within the sacred architectural heritage.
