Bright Stripes: An outdoor artistic oasis in the heart of Bjelovar-Bilogora County
Next to the forest road along the edge of the forest, from the Kamenitovac Mountain lodge towards the village of Šandrovac, there is a 4 kilometers long unique park of wooden sculptures, known as the Bright Stripes. Bright Stripes are the only open-air gallery of wooden sculptures in this part of Europe. They were created in the last ten years from the trees of the forest next to which they are placed. They were made by students and professors of the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, guest students from all over the world, as part of the sculpture colonies organized in the surroundings of the same forest. The sculptures represent a symbol of our forests and the unique landscape of the Bilogora region, and are a reflection of the authors’ inner artistic experience of the environment in which they were created. There are forty-three wood sculptures in total. Visit them by bike, on foot or on horseback and enjoy the beauty of nature with an unusual and special sculpture park.
