It was created during the Turkish rule, and was built by Orthodox monks. It was fortified, and when the Orthodox priests abandoned it and went to St. Anne near Bastaj in 1735, monks from Bosnia came and built a new monastery with a baroque church (1761–1765). The church was built in the baroque style, decorated with an ample architecture of pilasters. The iconostasis in the church dates from the second half of the 18th century, and it is the work of the Novi Sad painter Vasa Ostojić, who lived in this area at that time. Pakra Monastery was once extremely rich, especially treasured are the valuables that the monks of Mileševo brought from the Mileševo monastery. Many precious objects that belonged to the Pakra monastery have been lost without a trace.
The monastery is surrounded by beautiful nature and is located between Daruvar and Sirač, in the Pakra River canyon. Today, the parish priest of the Orthodox Church of the 318 God’s Fathers in Daruvar, Mr. Luka Bosanac.
