Our traditional dishes, still present in our kitchens today, beckon with enchanting aromas: corn polenta with sour milk, pork cooked with cabbage or turnip, roasted pork with bean and potato salad, rich pork stew with vegetables, simple corn zlevanka with plum jam or the holiday bilogorski kovrtanj. Each of these dishes conveys the magic of nature and flavors that connect the past with the moment at the table.
When these simple but sumptuous flavors are combined with the wines of the Bilogora and Daruvar wine roads, the experience becomes unforgettable – a feast for all the senses.
The palette of local gastronomic treasures had to be presented somehow to the wider community, so through the Days of Taste of Croatian Tradition gastronomic event, our tablecloths were proudly spread out on rich tables, followed by numerous dishes based on old recipes enriched with a touch of modern trends. The idea of the Taste of Croatian Tradition project is to present guests and local people with an accessible and tasty sequence of three traditional dishes. These are dishes whose smells and tastes conquer the body and soul, and turn dining into a true experience and pleasure. Every year, the event allows fans of local authentic gastronomy to enjoy a selected sequence of three traditional dishes in restaurants that carry the Tastes of Croatian Tradition brand.
Briefly about the Tastes project
In the area of Bjelovar-Bilogora County,there are twelve catering facilities that are bearers of the Tastes of Bjelovar-Bilogora Region standard. The aforementioned catering establishments in the area of Bjelovar-Bilogora County participate jointly in the national Days of Taste of Croatian Tradition, and during the event you can taste a varied sequence of three traditional dishes at promotional prices. The offer of traditional dishes is also available throughout the year in restaurants that have the Tastes standard.
