One of the most attractive places in Garešnica is the Natura 2000 Visitor Center, located in the renovated building of the former Community Center. This multicultural building has a fascinating past, having served various purposes, including a cinema, a lively night bar and a shop. Today, within the Green Gardens of Poilovlje project, the Center has become a cultural pearl of this area. If you visit the Center, you will first be greeted by an impressive aquarium with locally protected fish that live in the area. This is where an interesting journey through fascinating natural heritage begins. By walking through the Green Gardens of Poilovlje, you will discover more than 60 protected bird species and the habitat of the European beaver and otter, and enter the singing kingdom of the bird world.
The Center has themed rooms for visitors. A conference hall with a capacity of up to 100 seats is offered for various activities, including lectures, presentations, workshops and conferences. It is also open to individual visitors and groups who can enjoy the screening of a film about Poilovlje. The exhibition space is completed by video presentations about the importance of the Natura 2000 ecological network and significant habitats in the Poilovlje area.
The Dabar multimedia classroom offers relaxation and learning about the various bird species in this area, ecology, environmental conservation, and participation in various quizzes. In the GNJURAC laboratory, you can explore plant and animal life under a microscope. Regardless of whether you are an individual visitor, a family or a group, the Natura 2000 Visitor Center offers various facilities for independent exploration of Poilovlje. You can rent bicycles and explore northern Moslavina or, if you are interested in bird watching, there is the possibility to rent binoculars. Telescope rental is also available.
IVO ROBIĆ – GALLERY AS PART OF THE NATURA 2000 VISITOR CENTER
In the NATURA 2000 Visitor Center, you can visit a special gallery dedicated to the famous Ivo Robić called “Mr Morgen”.
This exhibition, which has become a permanent fixture of the Center, displays sheet music, letters, photographs, instruments and many other personal items of this famous singer. Ivo Robić, born in Garešnica, became an international star when his hit “Morgen” entered the American charts, surpassing legendary musicians such as Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley.
Ivo Robić was a real musical virtuoso, playing various instruments such as piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute and double bass. Although he gained fame across the globe, he never forgot his hometown. He even held concerts at the Croatian Home in Garešnica several times, at the invitation of Pero Brnjas, returning with nostalgia to the area where he spent his childhood and attended school, and bringing a piece of stardom to Garešnica.
