Romany house

Romska kuca 012

In the small village of Maglenča, there is a unique Romany ethnic house of the autochthonous Croatian Roma Lovars, one of the eight groups of Roma living in Croatia today. In the first Romany house in Croatia, but also in Europe, there is a permanent exhibition on the history of the autochthonous Croatian Roma Lovars, and you can also see rich lavender plantations. At the entrance to the property, there is a symbolic signpost on which you can see the directions to the big European cities where the Roma are still looking for their place under the sun, while the entrance to the house faces east. In front of the entrance is an apple tree as a symbol of fertility and family prosperity. The hosts of the Romany House, Goran and Slađana Đurđević, interpret the story of the traditions, customs and eco-ethnic heritage of the Romany House and the history of this region extremely skillfully – as is the manner of the world’s most experienced guides.

The Romany house is a monument to ancient times and a witness to the history of this region as well as a treasure chest, preserved through the records of time. Here you can taste some of the specialties of traditional Roma cuisine and buy some of the lavender products that the owners plant on their own plantations around the house. There is a tasting of the products of the local Veliko Trojstvo family farms, as well as house rental for all kinds of outdoor and indoor events, a barbecue area, an area for presentations, educations, round tables. The Romany House is one of the horses welcome points.
