Every year at the end of August, the smell of juicy local plums and delicious jams fill the air in Sirač, aromatic brandy is cooked in a cauldron, the finest pancakes and other traditional local sweets are baked, but there is also time for useful lectures, education and workshops as well as entertaining concerts and traditional dances. The Days of the Plums and Schnapps event, which takes place every year at the end of August in Sirač, presents splendid plum plantations in an interesting and educational way.
Given that Sirač is the municipality with the most plum plantations in this area, along with stone, wood and water, plums have thus become a recognizable trademark of the municipality. If you visit this event, you can expect stalls with freshly baked plum and plum jam cakes, pancakes, buchteln or bazlamača cakes. To make the story of plums complete in this “village yard of Sirač”, the traditional customs of roasting schnapps in a cauldron and cooking plum jam and marmalade will be presented. Visitors will be able to taste appreciated and award-winning alcoholic beverages, aromatic schnapps and intoxicating liqueurs.
