As part of Čazma Natura, one of the projects that has been completed and is open to visitors is the Medjama promenade. This natural pearl along the Česma River near Čazma used to be a favorite destination for fishermen and hikers, but over time it fell into oblivion, primarily due to lack of maintenance. Thanks to the Čazma Natura project, this location is coming back to life in all its glory. Just a 10-minute easy walk from the center of Čazma, a beautiful landscape of winding paths and all shades of green will open before your eyes. A pleasant walk among the treetops, filled with lively birdsong – this is the experience offered by the Medjama promenade, where all interventions are designed so as to respect the natural environment. You can see wild ducks, herons, kingfishers and numerous other wading birds, as well as amphibians.
Medjame is the first educational point on the themed trail through the Česma Valley. The 1.8 km long path passes under the treetops and over the water, offering an opportunity for unhindered observation of nature. The path leads through the forest and along the river, enabling the observation of various animal species, such as beavers, storks and herons in their natural habitat.
At the center of this project is an attractive biological pool, the first of its kind in Croatia. This unique pool covers 1,665 square meters and includes a pool for swimmers and non-swimmers. The technology of the biological pool enables the preparation of safe water for bathing in a natural and environmentally acceptable way, completely without chemicals, and this pool is the first public facility of its kind in Croatia.
You can also enjoy new discoveries at the interpretation site of Vustje, where there is a path through the thick canopy of trees with viewpoints and resting places. Interesting facilities have been built near the pond and the restored fisherman’s house, among which is the beaver dwelling that serves as a classroom in nature.
The Česma Valley hiking trail, which stretches 12.5 km from Vustje to Sišćan, will offer information panels and content about local flora and fauna. The entire trail is located within the Nature 2000 area and follows the Česma River.
A panoramic terrace and observation decks allow for a unique experience of nature from a height, while benches and bike racks are placed along the path for the comfort of visitors. The Čazma Natura project not only promotes sustainable development, but also encourages education and awareness of natural heritage, making Čazma a hit destination for all nature lovers.
